FAQ's​

Do I have to ride every week?
No, you can ride as little or often as you want but must have ridden at Long Lane at least once to compete in a competition.

I've never ridden before, can I still join?
Yes anyone can join, we have lesson groups to cater for all abilities, you can join a horseball group when you are confident in canter. 

​

Can I join the BUCS team?
You can through the UoN Equestrian (UP Riding Club), trials are in October and you can speak to the BUCS team captain at the freshers fair on Sutton Bonington.

What do I need to wear?
You can borrow hats, boots and body protectors from the riding school. You should wear loose fitting trousers and a boot with a heel (like wellies). If you want to keep riding talk to the committee and they can suggest to you what else you might need.

I've never competed before, can I still join in the competitions?
Yes! We run walk-trot dressage for those not confident at cantering and our jumping competitions start at 2ft

 

I'm a PHD student, can I still join?
Of course!

Is transport provided? 

Yes we provide transport to and from all sessions.

​

Can I bring my own horse to lessons and competitions?

yes. However, this depends on you providing your own transport and Long Lane agreeing to allow riders own horses to attend that lesson, clinic or competition. If you wish to bring your own horse you must have read our bring your own horse policy and filled in the attached google form.

How much is membership?

Membership costs £16 for the year via the Nottingam SU website.
